Mamata Slams BJP Over 'Police Raj' in Bengal, Cites Hitler

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleging that a 'police raj' prevails in West Bengal. She accused the BJP of using the police machinery to weaken her party through intimidation, arrests, and electoral manipulation. Banerjee even drew a controversial comparison, stating that 'even Hitler did not' resort to such tactics.

Allegations of Police Misuse

Banerjee claimed that authorities are denying permission for TMC meetings and rallies, and alleged widespread lawlessness in the state. She also accused the police of threatening TMC MLAs to quit the party and join the BJP. 'The police are being used as a tool to crush dissent,' she said.

Attack on Abhishek Banerjee

Referring to the recent attack on party leader Abhishek Banerjee, Mamata alleged that BJP workers were involved but not arrested. She claimed to have proof of their involvement and demanded action. 'The attackers are known BJP supporters, yet no action has been taken,' she asserted.

Vandalism and Arrests

Banerjee further alleged that 2,500 TMC offices were vandalised and 10,000 workers arrested after the elections. She accused the BJP of trying to destabilise the state and weaken the democratic process. 'This is not governance; this is a police raj,' she added.

The TMC chief called on the central government to intervene and restore normalcy in West Bengal. She urged the people to stand united against what she termed as 'BJP's authoritarian rule'.
