In a dramatic incident in Kanpur, a 24-year-old man allegedly attempted suicide by jumping into the Ganga River from the new Ganga Bridge in the Kotwali Ganga Ghat area of Shuklaganj, Unnao. The event occurred at 7:00 am on Wednesday, but vigilant passersby intervened and prevented the tragedy, promptly alerting the police.
Man Pleads with Police to Let Him Jump
When the police arrived at the scene, the distressed man grabbed their feet and pleaded, "Let me jump. I am very troubled by my wife." The officers, however, remained calm and counselled him, eventually taking him to the police station for further questioning and support.

The man, a resident of Mohalla Gandhinagar in Shuklaganj, had entered into a love marriage six months ago. Since then, he had been experiencing a troubled married life. According to reports, he had a heated quarrel with his wife shortly before the incident, which drove him to contemplate ending his life.
Police officials noted that the man had visible injury marks on several parts of his body, indicating possible prior physical altercations or self-harm.
