Pune: In a shocking incident on Friday morning, an SUV driven by a 17-year-old minor collided with 17 private and government vehicles in the Loni Kalbhor area, off the Pune-Solapur highway. Fortunately, no injuries were reported despite the extensive damage caused to the vehicles.
Incident Details
According to the Loni Kalbhor police, the SUV owner, a local resident, had handed over the vehicle to his 17-year-old relative to drive. The minor, accompanied by three friends, had visited the Ramdara pilgrimage site for prayers. On their return journey, the teenager lost control of the steering wheel, leading to the SUV crashing into 17 vehicles near the Loni Kalbhor police station.
Legal Action Taken
Police constable Santosh Raosaheb Tandale filed a complaint regarding the incident. The Loni Kalbhor police have registered a case against both the minor boy and the SUV owner for allowing an underage driver to operate the vehicle. Authorities are investigating the matter further.
This incident highlights the dangers of allowing minors to drive motor vehicles, which is illegal and poses serious risks to public safety. The police have urged citizens to adhere to traffic laws and not to permit underage individuals to operate vehicles.
