MP Pratibha Dhanorkar Files Formal Complaint Over Protocol Breach at Chandrapur Event

Member of Parliament Pratibha Dhanorkar has submitted a formal complaint to the Lok Sabha Speaker, alleging that district officials in Chandrapur deliberately insulted her and violated established protocol during a government event on Monday. The incident took place at the official 'Rajmata Rani Hirai Jayanti' programme, where Dhanorkar claims administrative officers ignored the prescribed order of precedence for MPs.

Disruption During Speech and Allegations of Pre-Planned Humiliation

In her detailed letter, Dhanorkar stated that while she was addressing the gathering, an MLA was brought onto the stage with significant fanfare, which disrupted the proceedings and forced her to stop her speech prematurely. She described this disruption as a pre-planned attempt to publicly humiliate an elected representative, undermining her constitutional position.

Dhanorkar further alleged that the district collector and municipal commissioner acted under pressure from the ruling party. She pointed out that political workers, who had no constitutional post and were not mentioned on the official invitation, were given undue prominence on stage. As a result, what should have been a public event funded by taxpayer money was effectively turned into a private gathering of a particular political party, she asserted.

Call for Inquiry and Action Against Officers

The MP emphasized that such conduct by administrative officers constitutes a direct attack on the democratic values of Parliament. She has urged the Speaker to refer the matter to the Privileges Committee for a thorough investigation. Dhanorkar has demanded a full inquiry and strict action under service rules against any officers found guilty of misusing their authority and breaching protocol.

This complaint highlights ongoing tensions between elected representatives and administrative officials, raising concerns about protocol adherence and political interference in public events. The outcome of this case could set a precedent for how such breaches are handled in the future, ensuring respect for parliamentary dignity and democratic processes.
