Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar Highlights Maharaja's Values

Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar on Thursday underscored the importance of harmony and selfless service, stating that the life and legacy of Mysuru's Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar continue to inspire society. He was speaking after inaugurating the Rajarshi Shri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Jayanti celebrations, organized by the Department of Kannada and Culture, district administration, Mysuru City Corporation, and the Jayanti committee at Karnataka Kalamandira.

MP's Address on Social Values

Wadiyar emphasized that mutual respect, social harmony, and a spirit of service are fundamental for building a progressive society, irrespective of religion or personal beliefs. He noted that the Department of Kannada and Culture has been celebrating the maharaja's jayanti for the past decade and stressed the need to spread awareness of the maharaja's achievements to a wider audience.

Visionary Leadership and Legacy

The MP asserted that Karnataka's reputation as a progressive state is rooted in the visionary leadership of great rulers and administrators, with Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar holding a special place among them. Building a developed and inclusive Karnataka would be the greatest tribute to his legacy.

Other Speakers' Tributes

Retired principal and author Siddaswamy described the maharaja as the brightest star among the many rulers, commissioners, and dewans who served the Mysore kingdom. JD(S) MLC CN Manjegowda praised the maharaja's commitment to public welfare and women's empowerment. He recalled that the ruler even sold his personal jewelry to support the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara dam during financial difficulties.

Deputy Commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy G and Kannada and Culture Department Director BS Manjunath Swamy were also present at the event.
