Nagpur Residential Building Fire Damages 27 Electricity Meters, Disrupts Power Supply
A significant fire incident occurred in a residential building in Nagpur on Wednesday morning, resulting in substantial damage to electrical infrastructure and disruption of power supply to residents. The blaze broke out in the meter panel of Harihar Apartment located in the Lakadganj area, quickly spreading to connected wiring and individual flat meters.
Fire Spreads Rapidly, Damaging Multiple Meters
According to official information, the fire originated in the building's meter panel and rapidly extended to the connected electrical wiring and meters installed for individual apartments. At least 27 electricity meters were completely damaged in the incident, creating significant power supply issues for residents of the affected building.
Society secretary Vikram Bonth immediately alerted the fire department upon discovering the blaze. A prompt response team from the Lakadganj fire station rushed to the location and began firefighting operations to contain the spreading flames.
Firefighters Prevent Further Damage
Fire department personnel successfully brought the blaze under control before it could extend to other sections of the residential building. Their timely intervention prevented what could have been a more extensive disaster, potentially affecting additional apartments and causing greater property damage.
Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported among residents or firefighters during the incident, marking a fortunate outcome despite the substantial property damage sustained.
Investigation Underway, Short Circuit Suspected
While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, preliminary assessments point toward a possible short circuit in the electrical system as the likely trigger. Fire department officials and electrical inspectors are conducting detailed examinations to determine the precise origin and contributing factors behind the blaze.
The incident has highlighted concerns about electrical safety in residential buildings, particularly regarding meter panel maintenance and wiring integrity. Residents have been advised to exercise caution and report any electrical irregularities to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
