Jose Charles Martin, the founder of Latchiya Jananayaga Katchi (LJK) and son of controversial lottery magnate Santiago Martin, has officially declared his total assets to be worth more than Rs 600 crore. This revelation came as he filed his nomination papers to contest the 2026 assembly polls under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) banner in Kamaraj Nagar, Puducherry.

Martin reported an income of Rs 59.37 crore for the last financial year, with over Rs 200 crore deposited in various banks and Rs 14.28 crore invested in shares.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has booked him on charges of money laundering, alleging that he used 'proceeds of crime' to purchase assets. This case involves accusations of signing balance sheets that misrepresented illegal funds as unsecured loans.
Additionally, a case related to financial irregularities is pending before the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Ernakulam, Kerala. Three criminal cases concerning lottery ticket sales and financial crimes are also pending in West Bengal, as detailed in his affidavit.
