The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has significantly bolstered its position in the Rajya Sabha following the defection of several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs led by Raghav Chadha. The NDA's strength has now risen to 148 members, while the AAP's numbers have dwindled to just three. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alone holds 113 seats in the upper house. With additional vacancies expected in the coming months, the BJP is eyeing further gains toward a clear majority. The opposition remains fragmented, with no single party posing a substantial challenge. Chadha, who led the exodus, described AAP as a "toxic" environment, while Union Minister Kiren Rijiju welcomed the new members, expressing confidence in the NDA's leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
