Plus Two Student Dies in Bike Accident Near Kavinpuram

Thiruvananthapuram: An 18-year-old Plus Two student, who had arrived to attend his friend's sister's wedding, was killed in a bike accident near Kavinpuram Chappath early on Sunday. The deceased, Surya, 18, son of Suresh and Sabita, was a resident of Balaramapuram.

According to police and locals, Surya was returning after purchasing items for the wedding, scheduled for the coming day, when the mishap occurred. He reportedly lost control of the bike, which veered off the road and crashed into an electric pole and a nearby compound wall before overturning. Hearing a loud impact, locals rushed to the spot and found Surya and his friend Arjun, 18, who was riding pillion, lying injured. Both were immediately taken to Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital. However, Surya succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts. Arjun sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment in the ICU unit of the hospital. His condition is reported to be serious, police said.

Surya had recently appeared for his Plus Two examinations and was awaiting his results. The sudden death has cast a pall of gloom over both families and the local community. After postmortem, the body was handed over to relatives and later cremated. Vilappilsala police registered a case of unnatural death and initiated further investigation. Surya is survived by his brothers Ananthapadmanabhan, Nikhil and Rahul.
