Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Lead Campaign Rally in Coimbatore for AIADMK-BJP Alliance
Coimbatore is gearing up for a significant political event as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to campaign in the city on April 18. This visit aims to bolster support for candidates of the AIADMK-BJP alliance who are contesting in the upcoming elections across the region.
Alliance Candidates and Constituency Details
The AIADMK is fielding candidates in nine out of the ten assembly constituencies within Coimbatore district. In a strategic move, the BJP has put forward Vanathi Srinivasan as its sole candidate, contesting from the Coimbatore North constituency. Additionally, Union Minister L Murugan is contesting from the Avinashi constituency in Tirupur district, which partially overlaps with the Annur area in Coimbatore district. During his campaign, Modi will focus on rallying support for candidates across these eleven key constituencies, highlighting the alliance's collaborative efforts.
Event Logistics and Preparations
A major public meeting is planned at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex grounds, located along Avinashi Road. Preparatory work for this event began on Sunday with a special pooja ceremony, marking the commencement of stage setup and other logistical arrangements. According to BJP district president J Ramesh Kumar, the Prime Minister is expected to address the gathering at approximately 5 PM on Saturday. While plans for a roadshow have not been finalized yet, the event is anticipated to draw large crowds.
Participation of Senior Leaders
The rally will see the participation of senior leaders from the alliance parties, as well as union ministers overseeing Tamil Nadu affairs. On Sunday, several prominent figures attended the preparatory event, including:
- Former minister and AIADMK candidate from Thondamuthur, SP Velumani
- BJP Coimbatore city district president, J Ramesh Kumar
- AIADMK candidates Amman K Arjunan and P R G Arun Kumar
- Various party functionaries and local representatives
This collective involvement underscores the importance of the campaign in strengthening the alliance's presence and mobilizing voter support in the region.
