PM Modi Slams Congress for Panic-Mongering, Vows to Shield India from Global Conflicts
Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a sharp critique of the opposition Congress party during a public meeting in Silchar, Assam, on Saturday. He asserted that his government is actively working to minimise the impacts of global conflicts on the Indian populace, while accusing the Congress of acting irresponsibly by attempting to create panic across the nation.
Government's Proactive Stance on Global Turmoil
In his address, Modi emphasised the Centre's dedicated efforts to cushion citizens from the adverse effects of international wars and geopolitical tensions. "As the world grapples with conflicts, our primary focus is to reduce their repercussions on our people," he stated. The Prime Minister highlighted that this approach contrasts sharply with what he described as the Congress's failure to fulfill its role as a responsible political entity.
Congress Accused of Spreading Fear and Neglect
Modi alleged that instead of contributing constructively, the Congress is engaged in spreading rumours and falsehoods to mislead the public. "They lack any vision for Assam or the nation. Their only strategy is to abuse Modi and propagate lies," he claimed. The Prime Minister further criticised the Congress for its historical disregard towards the Northeast region, particularly Barak Valley.
Historical Grievances and Development Promises
The Prime Minister delved into historical context, accusing the Congress of allowing border demarcations during Independence that severed Barak Valley's access to the sea, thereby crippling its trade and industrial potential. "Barak Valley was once a thriving hub of commerce, but Congress's actions stripped it of its strength," he alleged. Modi pointed out that despite Congress governments holding power for decades post-Independence, the region witnessed minimal development.
In contrast, he affirmed the BJP government's commitment to revitalising the area. "Today, we are transforming this neglect into opportunity," Modi declared, underscoring his party's mantra of prioritising those left behind in development.
Youth Empowerment and Security Concerns
Modi also accused the Congress of misleading Assam's youth towards violence and terrorism in the past, while asserting that the BJP has steered the state towards becoming an ocean of opportunities for young people. "Where Congress stops thinking, we start working," he remarked, reinforcing his government's proactive stance on youth welfare and regional security.
The speech in Silchar, part of a foundation stone-laying ceremony for various development projects, underscored the political tensions ahead of upcoming elections, with Modi positioning his administration as a shield against global instability and a driver of Northeastern progress.
