PM Modi Hails BJP's Performance in Karnataka Polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) performance in the Karnataka Assembly elections, stating that he sees a 'saffron surge' in the state. Addressing a public meeting in Bengaluru, Modi said the BJP's strong showing in the polls is a reflection of the people's trust in the party's development agenda.

BJP's Performance in Karnataka

The BJP emerged as the single largest party in the Karnataka Assembly elections, winning 104 seats. The party fell short of a majority by eight seats, but its performance was significantly better than in the previous elections. Modi thanked the people of Karnataka for their support and said the BJP will continue to work for the state's development.

Modi's Address in Bengaluru

Speaking at a rally in Bengaluru, Modi said, 'I see a saffron surge in Karnataka. The BJP's performance in the assembly polls is a testament to the hard work of our party workers and the faith of the people.' He also criticized the Congress party, accusing it of neglecting the state's development during its tenure.

The prime minister highlighted various central government schemes that have benefited Karnataka, including the Ujjwala scheme, Ayushman Bharat, and the PM-KISAN scheme. He assured the people that the BJP would continue to prioritize the state's development if it forms the government.

Reactions from Political Leaders

Several BJP leaders echoed Modi's sentiments, expressing confidence in forming the government in Karnataka. State BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa said the party is in touch with independent candidates and smaller parties to secure a majority. Meanwhile, the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) have also staked claim to form the government.

The Karnataka Assembly elections were held on May 12, and the results were declared on May 15. The BJP's performance has been seen as a boost for the party ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
