The day also marked the 150th birth anniversary of two monumental figures in Indian history - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
The Prime Minister credited Sardar Patel's visionary leadership for ensuring India's political integration, revealing that it was Patel's inspiration and courage of conviction that guided the government's steps to revoke Article 370 and 35(A).
