Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Larsen & Toubro's (L&T) manufacturing facility at Hazira in Surat on Friday. He reviewed the ongoing industrial operations, defence, and infrastructure projects at the site. To mark World Environment Day, PM Modi also planted a tree at the AM Naik Heavy Engineering Complex.
PM Modi's Visit Highlights
The Prime Minister spent approximately 45 minutes at the facility, during which company officials briefed him on ongoing projects, with a particular focus on defence initiatives. He received detailed information about the Zorawar tank and other defence equipment manufactured at the Hazira complex.
Zorawar Tank and Defence Projects
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and L&T Defence have jointly developed the Zorawar tank, an air-transportable 25-tonne tank designed for rapid deployment along borders. This project aligns with India's push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi stated, "The role played by L&T in furthering self-reliance in the defence sector is commendable."
Environmental Initiative
In observance of World Environment Day, the Prime Minister planted a tree at the complex, underscoring the importance of environmental conservation alongside industrial growth.
