Prime Minister Modi Issues Global Fuel Crisis Warning Amid Regional Conflicts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a stark warning on Sunday about an emerging worldwide petrol and diesel crisis, attributing it directly to ongoing conflicts affecting crucial energy-producing regions. Speaking during the 132nd episode of his monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister highlighted how geopolitical tensions are threatening global energy security.

Global Turmoil Following Pandemic Recovery

The Prime Minister reflected on recent global developments, noting that March has been particularly eventful on the international stage. "We all remember that, in the past, the entire world faced numerous problems for a long time due to Covid," Modi stated. "We all expected that, after emerging from the Covid crisis, the world would move forward on the path of progress with a fresh start, but in different regions of the world, conditions of war and conflict continued to emerge."

Middle East Conflict's Direct Impact on Energy Security

Modi specifically referenced the ongoing hostilities involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which have now entered their thirtieth day. "Currently, a fierce war has been going on for the past one month in our neighbourhood," he emphasized. The Prime Minister expressed particular concern about the region's significance to India's energy requirements, describing it as "a major hub of our energy needs."

He further explained the direct consequence: "Due to this, a petrol and diesel crisis is developing worldwide." This statement marks one of the most explicit warnings from the Indian government about how Middle Eastern conflicts could trigger global fuel shortages and price volatility.

Concern for Indian Diaspora and Gratitude to Gulf Nations

The Prime Minister also addressed the humanitarian aspect of the conflict, noting that "relatives of lakhs of families reside in these countries, particularly working in the Gulf regions." He expressed profound appreciation for the support extended to Indian citizens abroad, stating, "I am very grateful to the Gulf countries for providing every kind of assistance to over 1 crore Indians there."

India's Preparedness and Call for National Unity

Despite the challenging global circumstances, Prime Minister Modi asserted that India is better positioned than many nations to navigate these difficulties. "India is resolutely facing these challenges because of its global relations, assistance from different countries, and the capability the country has built over the past decade," he declared.

Recognizing the severity of the situation, Modi characterized this period as "undoubtedly a challenging time" and issued a heartfelt appeal for national solidarity. "I once again urge countrymen to get united and overcome this challenge," he concluded, emphasizing collective resilience as essential during this period of international uncertainty.

The Prime Minister's remarks come as global energy markets show increasing volatility, with analysts monitoring how prolonged conflicts in energy-rich regions might affect fuel availability and pricing worldwide. His warning underscores the interconnected nature of geopolitical stability and economic security in an increasingly globalized world.
