Varanasi is making extensive preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency, starting Tuesday afternoon. During his visit, he will inaugurate an exhibition showcasing development works worth over Rs 60,000 crore carried out in Varanasi under his government.
Security and Arrangements
District administration and police officials are on high alert as the Prime Minister, along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is likely to tour the city to review ongoing projects. Before leaving Varanasi on Wednesday, PM Modi will offer prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath temple. The BJP is making arrangements to welcome him with flower petal showers at five locations, and barricades are being installed to manage crowds along the route.
Party office-bearers clarified that it will not be a roadshow, but arrangements are being made on similar lines. The PM will be greeted at Banaras railway station, Police Lines, Lahurabir, and Maidagin before reaching the temple on Wednesday morning.
BJP National President's Visit
On his maiden visit to Kashi, BJP national president Nitin Nabin will welcome Modi along with Governor Anandiben Patel and CM Yogi at LBSI Airport. Confirming Nabin's visit, BJP's Kashi regional unit president Dilip Singh Patel said the national president will arrive before PM Modi to address the Nari Shakti Vandana Sammelan at BLW ground on Tuesday evening, where 50,000 women are expected. After landing, Modi will fly to BLW ground to address the gathering, Patel added.
Booth-level efforts are underway to mobilize over 50,000 women for the event, seen as a response to opposition parties that opposed the bill in Lok Sabha. Party city chief Pradeep Agrahari said office-bearers and workers of the women's wings have been tasked with mobilizing women and bringing them to the public meeting. BJP office-bearers and cadres are extending all necessary assistance.
