Lucknow: Professor KV Raju, who has served as the economic adviser to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for nearly nine years, has been appointed a full-time member of NITI Aayog. The appointment was made with the approval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Other Appointments
In addition to Prof Raju, Rajiv Gauba, Gobardhan Das, Abhay Karandikar, and M Srinivas have also been appointed as full-time members of the policy think tank. Ashok Kumar Lahiri has been named the vice-chairperson of NITI Aayog.
Career Background
Before serving as economic adviser to the Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Prof Raju held the same position in Karnataka. His extensive career includes roles as a principal scientist at ICRISAT in Hyderabad, a social scientist at IWMI in Colombo, and a visiting research fellow at IFPRI in Washington, DC. He has also served as a professor at the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC) in Bengaluru.
Prof Raju began his professional journey at the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) in Gujarat. Over the years, he has authored 26 books and more than 100 research papers, establishing himself as a prominent economist.
