A 26-year-old tourist from Pune, Jeevan Bhatrai, went missing after being swept away by rough waves while shooting a reel at Kadle beach in Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Monday. Bhatrai had been staying with friends at a private resort in Kadle for the past three days. He was at the beach filming on his mobile phone when the waves suddenly intensified, catching him and sweeping him into the sea.
Rescue Attempts and Search Operation
His friends reportedly tried to rescue him but were unable to. Upon receiving information, personnel from the coast guard and the fire and emergency services department rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. However, the operation was hampered due to high waves. Kumta police visited the spot, registered a case, and began an investigation.
