Chandigarh: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Saturday described June 6 as one of the most painful and unfortunate days in Sikh history, marking the attack on the Akal Takht by the then Congress government. The Akal Takht is the highest temporal seat of the Sikh community.

Dhillon stated that the deep wounds inflicted on the collective conscience and religious sentiments of the Sikh community can never be forgotten. He said that every Sikh remembers this day with pain and solemnity, paying homage to all those who lost their lives during that tragic period.

During his visit to New Delhi, Dhillon paid obeisance at the historic Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib, seeking blessings for peace, harmony, and prosperity for all. He offered Ardas for the welfare of humanity, the continued progress of the Sikh Panth, and the spirit of Chardi Kala among Sikhs worldwide.
