In a significant move to support medical aspirants, the Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has approved free travel for all NEET re-exam candidates across the state. The decision aims to alleviate the financial burden on students who are required to appear for the re-examination.
Details of the Decision
The cabinet meeting, chaired by CM Mann, gave the green light to provide complimentary bus travel to all candidates registered for the NEET re-exam. This initiative covers state-run buses, ensuring that students from every corner of Punjab can reach their designated exam centers without any cost.
Implementation and Scope
The free travel facility will be available on the day of the re-exam. Students will need to show their admit cards to avail of this service. The Punjab Roadways and Pepsu Road Transport Corporation buses will be the primary modes of transport under this scheme.
Government's Statement
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that no student misses the exam due to transportation issues. He stated, "Our priority is to support the youth in their educational pursuits. This step will remove a major hurdle for many students."
Reactions and Impact
The decision has been widely welcomed by student unions and parents. Many have taken to social media to express their gratitude. Education experts believe that such measures can significantly improve exam attendance rates and reduce stress among candidates.
This is not the first time the Punjab government has taken steps to assist students. Previously, it had announced free travel for other competitive exams as well.
