Punjab Chief Minister Celebrates Eid in Malerkotla with Major Healthcare Announcements
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann marked Eid celebrations in Malerkotla on Saturday, joining prayers at the historic Eidgah and unveiling significant healthcare and welfare initiatives for the region. The CM announced a Rs 563 crore government medical college and a network of hospitals designed to expand medical access.
Eid Celebrations and Brotherhood Message
During the festivities, CM Mann extended heartfelt greetings to the organizing committee and attendees from nearby villages. He described Eid as "a festival of seeking each other's welfare" and emphasized the peace he found at the holy Eidgah of Malerkotla. "This is a festival that reflects brotherhood, where we sit together and celebrate in harmony," he stated, highlighting the communal spirit of the occasion.
Reflecting on Malerkotla's history, Mann noted, "Malerkotla is a historic land from where a voice was raised in support of the younger Sahibzadas of the tenth Guru, a voice that still echoes across the world and the universe."
Major Healthcare Infrastructure Push
The centerpiece of the announcements was a new medical college in Malerkotla. "Around 25 acres of defence land has been transferred to the government, and with a cost of approximately Rs 563 crore, this medical college with 100 MBBS seats will soon be ready," Mann revealed.
Additional healthcare projects include:
- A 150-bed ESI hospital on about 8.5 acres, addressing a critical gap as there is no such facility between Khanna and Ludhiana.
- A mandatory nursing college and 200-bed hospital to accompany the medical college, ensuring comprehensive medical education and services.
Educational and Governance Developments
Beyond healthcare, Mann highlighted educational improvements. A girls' school previously operating in two shifts has been expanded into a five-storey building with new furniture. "This school is likely to be inaugurated within the next 15–20 days, and our daughters will receive education there," he announced.
Emphasizing his government's commitment, Mann said, "In 2022, the people of Punjab gave our government an opportunity to serve, and we have fulfilled all promises and guarantees so far." He contrasted this with past leaders, noting that only those who govern for the people earn a place in their hearts.
Urging Enrollment in Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna
CM Mann strongly encouraged families to enroll in the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna to access cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh. "This is an ambitious scheme aimed at providing cashless healthcare facilities, with both government and private hospitals empanelled," he explained.
He assured residents, "Treatment up to Rs 10 lakh will be completely free for all families residing in the state. I pray that such a situation of illness never arises and everyone remains healthy, but if it does, the state government stands firmly with people for their treatment."
Concluding with gratitude, Mann expressed, "The love given by the people of Malerkotla is so immense that it cannot be repaid even in several lifetimes. The value of this love can only be understood by the one who receives it."
