Chandigarh: Punjab has crossed the 85% mark in voter mapping under the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls after special camps were organized at all 24,453 polling booths across the state's 117 assembly constituencies on Sunday.
Chief Electoral Officer's Statement
Punjab chief electoral officer Anindita Mitra stated that 1.10 lakh voters were mapped during the day, taking the overall coverage beyond 85%. She emphasized the importance of this exercise in ensuring accurate and updated electoral rolls.
Upcoming Enumeration Process
Meanwhile, house-to-house enumeration is scheduled to begin on June 25. As many as 24,453 booth level officers (BLOs) will visit households across the state to verify electoral data and collect enumeration forms from over 2.14 crore electors. This drive aims to further enhance the accuracy of the voter list.
The special intensive revision is a crucial step in preparing for upcoming elections, ensuring that every eligible voter is registered and that duplicate or invalid entries are removed. The state's election machinery is working diligently to achieve 100% coverage.
