Bathinda: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Monday inaugurated a new Skill Development Centre of Excellence and a refurbished Astroturf hockey stadium at Government Brijindra College in Faridkot. Both projects were funded and established by MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney.
Governor Lauds Efforts for Youth Empowerment
Lauding Sahney and the Sun Foundation for their commitment to youth empowerment, the governor said the centre will play a transformative role in equipping young people with modern, employable skills. As the foundation's fifth facility in Punjab, the centre will provide free, NSDC-certified training and job placement support to nearly 1,000 youth annually, said Sahney.
Training Programs Offered
Training will cover nine industry-oriented trades, including nursing, fashion design, beauty therapy, front office operations, warehouse management, and electrical work.
Personal Connection to Faridkot
"Faridkot is my birthplace, the land that shaped my values, character, and life journey. Returning to my hometown to create avenues of hope and employment for its youth is deeply fulfilling," Sahney said.
