Prominent Muslim Leader Denounces Terrorism Following Delhi Blast
In a powerful demonstration against violence, Maulana Muhammad Usman Rehmani Ludhianvi, the Shahi Imam of Punjab, led a significant protest condemning Monday's explosion near Delhi's historic Red Fort. The demonstration took place outside Jama Masjid in Ludhiana following Friday prayers, drawing attention to what the religious leader described as a "shameful" attack on the nation.
The Shahi Imam delivered a strong message, stating that terrorists committing such acts are not only betraying India but also Islam itself. He emphasized that terrorist organizations operating under the guise of Islam are actually working against the religion's true principles by targeting innocent, unarmed civilians.
Islam Never Permits Attacks on Innocents, Says Religious Leader
"The terrorist attack outside Delhi's Red Fort is shameful," Ludhianvi declared during the protest. "These wicked people conspiring against India are simultaneously conspiring against Islam. Islam never, under any circumstances, permits attacks on unarmed, innocent, ordinary citizens."
The religious leader, who also serves as national president of Jamaat Majlis Ahrar Islam Hind, posed a crucial question: "Then who are these people who repeatedly shower bombs and bullets upon defenceless people, and whose names surface before Muslims?" His organization has historical significance, having participated in India's freedom struggle and movements against the nation's traitors.
Call for Swift Action and Social Media Responsibility
Ludhianvi called upon the Central government to take strict and swift action against those involved in terror activities. "A clear message must be sent to the traitors," he insisted, highlighting the importance of decisive governmental response to such threats.
The Shahi Imam also addressed the broader social implications of terrorism, noting that terrorism has no religion. He pointed out that those arrested in connection with terror activities across the country include individuals with diverse backgrounds and names, not belonging to any single religious community.
He made a special appeal to social media users, urging them to understand that targeting any particular religion or community with hatred following a terrorist attack is fundamentally wrong. This message comes at a time when social media platforms often become arenas for communal tensions after such incidents.
Ludhianvi comes from a family of freedom fighters who opposed the formation of Pakistan during Partition, giving his current stance against terrorism additional historical context and credibility. The Majlis Ahrar Islam, which he currently heads, has a legacy of participating in India's freedom struggle and leading movements against those considered traitors to the nation.
The religious leader reiterated his appeal to Muslims across India to raise their voices against terrorism and help society recognize antisocial elements who attempt to wrongly associate terrorism with Islam. His protest in Ludhiana represents a significant religious voice standing against violence while promoting national unity and religious harmony.
