More than 30 lakh Punjab electors submitted their enumeration forms during special camps organized statewide over two days as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anindita Mitra announced on Sunday.
Camp Details and Collection Figures
The special camps were held at all polling booths in the state on July 11 and 12 from 8 am to 3 pm, where voters submitted their completed enumeration forms to booth level officers (BLOs), Mitra explained. She further stated that over 1.3 crore electors had submitted their enumeration forms during the past 18 days.
Ongoing Door-to-Door Collection
Door-to-door collection of enumeration forms is currently underway and will continue until July 24, Mitra confirmed. Appealing to voters who have not yet submitted their forms, the CEO urged them to contact their respective BLOs without delay. She emphasized that timely submission is necessary to ensure every eligible elector's name is included in the draft electoral rolls, which are scheduled to be published on August 3.
Importance of Timely Submission
The SIR drive aims to update and correct the electoral rolls, ensuring accuracy for upcoming elections. Mitra stressed that voters who miss the deadline risk being omitted from the draft rolls. The Election Commission has deployed extensive resources to maximize participation, including the special camps and door-to-door visits.
