Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday alleged that 100 elections are being stolen and urged leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc not to fall for the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) propaganda. Speaking at a meeting of the INDIA bloc in New Delhi, Gandhi emphasized the need for unity among opposition parties to counter the ruling party's tactics.
Allegations of Electoral Manipulation
Gandhi claimed that the BJP is systematically rigging elections through misuse of central agencies, media control, and manipulation of electoral rolls. He said that the opposition must work together to expose these malpractices and protect democratic institutions.
Call for Unity
The Congress leader urged all opposition parties to set aside their differences and present a united front against the BJP. He stressed that only through collective action can they ensure free and fair elections.
The INDIA bloc, formed by several opposition parties, aims to challenge the BJP in the upcoming general elections. Gandhi's remarks come amid growing concerns over the use of electronic voting machines and allegations of voter suppression.
BJP's Response
The BJP dismissed Gandhi's allegations, calling them baseless and an attempt to divert attention from internal party issues. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that the Congress leader's claims are a sign of desperation as the opposition struggles to find a common agenda.
Political analysts say that Gandhi's statement reflects the opposition's anxiety over the BJP's strong organizational machinery and financial resources. The INDIA bloc faces challenges in seat-sharing and candidate selection, which could impact its electoral performance.
