Rahul Gandhi Slams Modi's Foreign Policy as 'Personal' and 'Compromised'
Rahul Gandhi: Modi's Foreign Policy a 'Universal Joke'

Rahul Gandhi Launches Scathing Attack on Modi's Foreign Policy Approach

In a sharp critique delivered in New Delhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has characterized India's foreign policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "personal" endeavor, labeling it a "universal joke." Gandhi further alleged that the Prime Minister is "compromised" and acting on directives from US President Donald Trump.

Allegations of External Influence and Compromise

"Our foreign policy is PM Modi's personal foreign policy... Everyone considers this a universal joke... Donald Trump knows exactly what PM Modi can and cannot do. If the Prime Minister is compromised, our foreign policy is compromised," Gandhi stated emphatically. He expanded on this by asserting that structural errors have been made, which are irreparable, particularly by the Prime Minister.

"All-party meeting should take place, but a structural blunder has been made... And this cannot be fixed, especially the Prime Minister cannot. He will do whatever America says and will not work in the interest of the farmers and the country. He will do whatever America and Israel say," he added, linking India's stance to international pressures amid ongoing conflicts like the Israel-Iran tensions.

Concerns Over Domestic Issues and Pandemic Comparisons

Shifting focus to domestic challenges, Gandhi raised alarms about escalating LPG and petrol prices, warning that citizens will bear the brunt of these increases. He criticized PM Modi's recent parliamentary address as "irrelevant" and questioned his leadership.

"He made an irrelevant speech in the Parliament yesterday... It should seem that he is India's Prime Minister, but there is no position... People will have to suffer due to this. It is just the beginning where LPG and petrol prices have risen... He claims the situation will be like Covid, but he forgot how many people died during Covid and the amount of tragedies that took place," Gandhi remarked, drawing a stark comparison to the pandemic's toll.

PM Modi's Response on Energy Security

Earlier in the day, PM Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha, reassuring the nation about India's energy preparedness despite the West Asia conflict. He highlighted that India maintains adequate crude oil reserves and robust supply arrangements, with enhancements to strategic petroleum reserves and refining capacity to mitigate disruptions in global trade, such as those affecting the Strait of Hormuz.

This exchange underscores deepening political divisions over India's foreign policy direction and economic management, with Gandhi positioning himself as a vocal critic ahead of key debates.
