Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday visited Kota, Rajasthan, to express solidarity with students protesting against frequent examination paper leaks and prolonged delays in government job recruitments. Addressing the gathering, Gandhi said that the dreams of thousands of young aspirants are being systematically crushed due to administrative apathy and corruption.
Students Demand Action on Paper Leaks
The protest, organized by student unions, saw participation from hundreds of youths who have been preparing for competitive exams like the Rajasthan Police Constable and Teacher Recruitment exams. Several exams have been canceled or postponed in recent months after question papers were leaked on social media platforms, causing widespread frustration among candidates.
Rahul Gandhi criticized the state and central governments for failing to ensure a fair and transparent recruitment process. He alleged that the ruling parties are more focused on protecting corrupt officials than on addressing the genuine concerns of the youth. “The future of this country is being jeopardized. Every leak and delay pushes students deeper into uncertainty,” he said.
Job Delays Add to Frustration
Apart from paper leaks, the students also highlighted the prolonged delays in the release of exam results and subsequent recruitment processes. Many aspirants have been waiting for years for job confirmations, leading to mental stress and financial burden on their families. Gandhi assured the protesters that the Congress party would raise these issues in Parliament and push for strict legislation against paper leaks.
The protest remained peaceful, with students holding placards reading “Stop Paper Leaks” and “Jobs Now.” Local police maintained security but did not intervene. Gandhi’s visit is seen as an attempt to connect with the youth ahead of upcoming state elections, where unemployment and education reforms are key issues.
Political Reactions
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dismissed Gandhi’s protest as a political stunt. State BJP spokesperson said, “Rahul Gandhi has no solution to offer. He only comes to create chaos. The government has already taken strict actions against those involved in paper leaks and is working to expedite recruitment.” However, the student community welcomed Gandhi’s support, hoping it would bring national attention to their plight.
