Sanjay Raut dismisses 'Operation Tiger' as MLAs, MPs temporary; party permanent
Raut: MLAs, MPs come and go, party remains amid 'Operation Tiger'

Amid swirling speculation over an alleged 'Operation Tiger' aimed at luring Shiv Sena (UBT) Lok Sabha MPs to the ruling BJP-led NDA alliance, party MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday asserted that individual lawmakers are temporary while the party remains eternal.

Raut's Response to Defection Rumors

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Raut downplayed the reports, stating, "MLAs and MPs come and go, but the party remains. Our party workers and leadership are united. Such operations have failed in the past and will fail again." He urged party members to remain vigilant and not be swayed by what he termed as "political temptations."

Background of 'Operation Tiger'

Media reports had suggested that several Shiv Sena (UBT) parliamentarians were in touch with the NDA leadership, exploring the possibility of switching sides. The term 'Operation Tiger' has been used in the past to describe attempts by the BJP to poach opposition lawmakers. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has been a key opposition party in Maharashtra since its split from the original Shiv Sena in 2022.

Political Implications

Political analysts view these developments as part of the ongoing realignments in Maharashtra politics ahead of the next state assembly elections. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has been critical of the ruling Mahayuti coalition, which includes the BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and the NCP under Ajit Pawar. Raut's comments are seen as an effort to boost party morale and signal strength despite potential defections.

Raut also called on party workers to intensify outreach programs and strengthen grassroots connections. "Our strength lies in our ideology and our connect with the common man. No amount of political maneuvering can break that bond," he added.

The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, which includes Shiv Sena (UBT), the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress, has been working to consolidate its base. However, recent defections have raised questions about its stability. Raut's statement aims to reassure allies and supporters that the party remains intact.

As the political drama unfolds, all eyes are on the upcoming sessions of Parliament and the Maharashtra legislature, where further realignments may become evident.
