An RCB IPL victory celebration in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh turned violent on Tuesday night as fans vandalised a bus and damaged public property. The incident occurred after Royal Challengers Bangalore's win in the IPL final.
Celebration Turns Ugly
What began as a joyous celebration quickly spiralled out of control when a group of fans started throwing stones at a moving bus. The bus, which was passing through the area, had its windows smashed and body panels dented. The mob also damaged streetlights and a nearby shop.
Police Response
Police arrived at the scene and dispersed the crowd using batons and water cannons. No injuries were reported, but authorities have registered a case against unknown persons under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for vandalism and rioting.
Witness Accounts
Local residents expressed shock at the violence. One eyewitness said, "We were happy about the win, but this is too much. They were just destroying everything." Another resident added, "The police took time to arrive, and by then the damage was done."
Background
RCB's victory in the IPL final sparked massive celebrations across the country, especially in Karnataka and parts of Andhra Pradesh where the team has a huge fan following. However, this incident highlights the dark side of fan frenzy.
Authorities have urged people to celebrate responsibly and warned of strict action against those indulging in violence or property damage. Additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas to prevent further incidents.
