Wrapped in the Indian Tricolour, the mortal remains of Squadron Leader Vashisht were brought to Kakrana village earlier in the day, drawing an immense crowd of villagers, relatives, and dignitaries who assembled to pay their final respects. Born on August 9, 1993, in Kakrana village, Anuj Vashisht moved with his family to Gurugram at the age of seven, where he completed his schooling. Known for his academic excellence and remarkable discipline from an early age, he realized his lifelong dream of serving the nation when he was selected for the Indian Air Force in 2015.
After successfully completing his rigorous training, he returned to his village in 2016, where residents accorded him a warm and celebratory welcome—a moment that remains vividly etched in the memories of many villagers to this day.
Family Legacy and Personal Tragedy
Anuj hailed from a family with strong and proud ties to the Armed Forces. His father, Anand Kumar, is a retired Subedar of the Indian Army, instilling a sense of duty from childhood.
He is survived by his younger brother Manuj, an engineering graduate who works in England and immediately returned to India after receiving the devastating news of the tragedy. In a particularly poignant revelation, family members shared that Anuj's marriage had recently been arranged, with preparations for the engagement and wedding actively underway.
