Patna: Senior RSS functionary Nagendra Nath Tripathi was appointed as the Bharatiya Janata Party's national organiser, Rashtriya Sangathak (Vishishth Karyakarta Sampark), by party president Nitin Nabin on Monday. Tripathi had been serving as the BJP's regional general secretary (organisation) for Bihar and Jharkhand since 2021.
Official Announcement
BJP national general secretary (organisation) Arun Singh issued a notification stating, "National president of the BJP, Nitin Nabin, appointed Nagendra Nath Tripathi as the party's Rashtriya Sangathak (Vishishth Karyakarta Sampark)." The notification further mentioned that Tripathi's centre of operations will be Delhi.
Key Bridge Between RSS and BJP
Widely known as "Nagendra Ji" in political circles, Tripathi acts as a crucial link between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the BJP. Before assuming the role of regional general secretary in 2021, he spent a decade in Bihar as the BJP's general secretary (organisation), strengthening the party's foundational structure in the state. He served in that capacity from 2011 to 2021.
Strategic Role in Bihar
Senior BJP functionary Nikhil Anand praised Tripathi's elevation, saying, "Nagendra Ji is highly regarded as a key strategist behind the formation and continuity of the BJP-JD(U) 'double-engine' government in Bihar. He worked closely with senior JD(U) leadership to resolve internal friction and bridge communication gaps with central leadership."
Previous Tenure in Uttar Pradesh
Prior to his Bihar assignment, Tripathi served for eight years (2003-2011) as the BJP's general secretary (organisation) in Uttar Pradesh, where he orchestrated grassroots strategies across the state. Before 2003, he held various positions in the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad for many years.
Early Life and RSS Background
Born on January 4, 1955, into a farming family in Belauli village, Sant Kabir Nagar district (formerly part of Basti), Uttar Pradesh, Tripathi joined the local RSS shakha as a Swayamsevak during his school days in Basti district. He later became a full-time Pracharak, dedicating his life to organisational work and community development.
