Actor-politician R Sarathkumar launched a sharp critique against the DMK and its allies on Wednesday, accusing them of spreading misinformation and actively opposing the delimitation process. He emphasized that this process could potentially increase Tamil Nadu's representation in the Lok Sabha from the current 39 seats to as many as 50 seats, a significant boost for the state's political influence at the national level.

While campaigning for BJP candidate Vanathi Srinivasan in the Coimbatore North constituency at Vadavalli, Sarathkumar connected the opposition to delimitation with resistance to the 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies. He argued that those blocking delimitation are also hindering progress on gender equality in politics, suggesting a broader pattern of obstructionism.
Allegations Against DMK Government
Sarathkumar did not hold back in his accusations against the ruling DMK government. He alleged a disturbing rise in crimes against women across Tamil Nadu, which he directly attributed to an increase in drug abuse under the current administration. His statements painted a grim picture of public safety, implying that the DMK's policies have failed to protect vulnerable citizens.
Highlighting Central Government Initiatives
In contrast to his criticism of the state government, Sarathkumar praised the central government's efforts. He highlighted specific initiatives, such as the translation of the ancient Tamil literary work Thirukkural into 13 languages, promoting cultural heritage. Additionally, he noted the introduction of 16 Vande Bharat Express trains, showcasing advancements in infrastructure and connectivity that benefit the region.
