Congress Leader D K Shivakumar Alleges LDF-BJP Nexus in Kerala
Congress leader and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has made serious allegations of a political nexus between the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kerala. Speaking during roadshows in Kannur and Kozhikode constituencies on Sunday, Shivakumar asserted that the United Democratic Front (UDF) is poised to secure a two-thirds majority in the upcoming Kerala assembly elections.
Allegations of Selective Targeting by Central Agencies
Shivakumar criticized the BJP-led central government for what he described as the selective use of central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to target opposition leaders while allegedly shielding LDF leaders involved in various cases in Kerala. "Even though there are so many cases, including the gold theft case and smuggling case, in the state, why are they not resorting to the kind of action which we are seeing in other states?" he questioned.
He further elaborated, "They are only targeting their political enemies and supporting their allies. I think that LDF is also in their alliance." This statement underscores his claim of an unofficial partnership between the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led LDF and the BJP, suggesting coordinated political maneuvering.
Key Issues Highlighted by Shivakumar
During his address, Shivakumar emphasized several critical issues resonating with the people of Kerala:
- Demand for Change: He stated that voters are seeking a shift in governance and development initiatives.
- Unemployment Solutions: Addressing joblessness remains a top priority for the electorate.
- Justice for Lord Ayyappa Devotees: He highlighted concerns related to Sabarimala temple affairs.
Sabrimala Gold Theft Case and CBI Probe
Shivakumar pointed to the Sabarimala gold theft case as a prime example of the alleged nexus. He accused the central government of not instituting a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into this case due to the unofficial partnership between the CPM and BJP. "The central govt has not instituted a probe by CBI in the Sabarimala gold theft case because of the unofficial partnership between CPM and BJP," he asserted, reinforcing his allegations of collusion.
These remarks come amid heightened political activity in Kerala, with Shivakumar's statements likely to fuel further debate and scrutiny as election campaigns intensify. His allegations of a LDF-BJP nexus and predictions of a UDF victory add a new dimension to the political discourse in the state.
