MP Shrikant Shinde Leads Intensive Review of SIR Drive in Thane District

In a significant push to bolster electoral preparedness, Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde conducted a series of high-level review meetings on Thursday across three key Lok Sabha constituencies in Thane district: Kalyan, Thane, and Bhiwandi. The meetings were part of the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive, aimed at strengthening organisational frameworks and ensuring the effective implementation of voter list updates.

Focus on Accurate and Inclusive Voter Lists

Addressing party office-bearers and grassroots workers, Shinde underscored the critical importance of the SIR exercise in creating a transparent, accurate, and comprehensive voter list. He emphasized that every eligible citizen must be included, stating, "The focus is on making the voter list transparent, accurate and comprehensive. Every eligible citizen must be included, and it is our responsibility to facilitate that process."

To achieve this goal, Shinde issued specific directives to expedite the appointment of Booth Level Agents (BLAs), instructing that at least two BLAs be designated in each area. He also mandated daily review meetings with BLAs to closely monitor progress and address any challenges promptly.

Training and Grassroots Mobilization

Detailed guidance and training sessions were provided to party workers on key aspects of the SIR drive, including:

  • Assisting citizens with voter registration procedures.
  • Conducting thorough voter mapping at the grassroots level.
  • Reaching out to eligible voters to ensure no one is left out of the electoral process.

Shinde urged workers to take an active role in these efforts, highlighting the need for coordinated action to enhance voter participation. Workers expressed confidence in executing these tasks and assured robust efforts on the ground.

Organisational Strengthening and Future Preparedness

The meetings also reviewed the broader organisational structure in the three constituencies, with a focus on fortifying the network at the booth level. Shinde noted that this grassroots strengthening is crucial for the smooth execution of the SIR drive and for preparing the party for upcoming electoral challenges.

Speaking to reporters, Shinde revealed that the initiative is being carried out under the directions of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He said, "We have trained our key party functionaries on how to appoint BLAs and carry out voter mapping effectively. Further training sessions will be conducted if needed."

This proactive approach aims to ensure that the SIR drive not only updates voter lists but also builds a resilient organisational framework capable of handling future electoral demands efficiently.
