Simhastha Kumbh Mela Preparations Begin with Dhwajstambh Foundation

The foundation-laying ceremony of the Simhastha Dhwajstambh commenced on Thursday at Ramkund on the Godavari river, marking a significant milestone in the preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Nashik. The ritual was organized by the Shri Ganga Godavari Panchkothi (Tirth) Purohit Sangh and conducted amid chants of devotional slogans.

Key Rituals and Dignitaries

Kumbh Mela minister Girish Mahajan and spiritual leader Narendracharya Maharaj (Nanijkar) performed the rituals in the presence of senior officials, public representatives, and seers from various akharas. Officials stated that a 51-foot-tall Dhwajstambh will be erected at the site, where the ceremonial Kumbh flag is scheduled to be hoisted on October 31.

Massive Expected Footfall

Mahajan highlighted the scale of the upcoming Kumbh, noting that the footfall is expected to be four to five times higher than the previous edition, with over 12 crore devotees likely to visit Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. He emphasized that ensuring a safe, clean, and well-managed Kumbh is the government's top priority, and called for collaboration among the administration, religious bodies, and citizens.
