The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) announced on Tuesday that prominent activist and Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Sonam Wangchuk will participate in its peaceful protest scheduled for Saturday, June 6. The demonstration is part of the party's ongoing campaign demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing alleged examination-related failures.
Wangchuk Confirms Participation
In a post on X, the CJP wrote, "Prominent educationist and Ramon Magsaysay Awardee @Wangchuk66 will join the peaceful protest on 6 June demanding the resignation of the education minister." Wangchuk confirmed his involvement, stating on X, "I will be joining the CJP members in Delhi on 6th June if nothing changes by 5th June. Any self respecting Minister should resign if things go so wrong... Not to mention the effect on millions of young lives and in fact the future of India."
Wangchuk's Previous Support
Wangchuk had earlier expressed solidarity with the CJP, humorously referring to himself as an "honorary cockroach." In May, he said, "I have been asked from several quarters to speak on it. Some are saying I should also become a member. I think I do not qualify -- I am neither unemployed nor am I lazy. So sadly, I am not a member. But I consider myself an honorary cockroach."
CJP Founder to Return on June 6
A day earlier, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke announced his return to Delhi on June 6 to lead the peaceful protest. In a video shared on social media, Dipke urged students and supporters to gather at the airport and then proceed to Parliament Street Police Station to seek permission for a demonstration at Jantar Mantar. He highlighted controversies surrounding NEET, CBSE, CUET, and SSCGD, arguing that millions of students have been affected by systemic shortcomings and that accountability is essential. Dipke emphasized that the campaign would remain non-violent and adhere to constitutional and democratic principles, despite concerns from his family about potential legal repercussions upon his return.
