Samajwadi Party Boycotts District Election Meeting Amid BJP Interruption Over Form 7 Fraud Allegations
In a dramatic turn of events in Prayagraj, Samajwadi Party functionaries staged a walkout from a crucial district election meeting on Monday. The boycott occurred after Bharatiya Janata Party members repeatedly interrupted SP representatives as they attempted to raise serious allegations regarding the recovery of numerous Form 7 documents from Booth Level Officers across the district.
Meeting Called for Special Summary Revision Turns Contentious
The district election office had convened the meeting of political parties specifically to discuss the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) process. According to SP's national spokesman Daan Bahadur Madhur, who spoke exclusively to TOI, the situation escalated when SP members brought forward evidence of what they described as systematic electoral malpractice.
"Officials organized this meeting to facilitate dialogue about the SSR," Madhur explained. "However, when we presented our concerns about the recovery of substantial numbers of Form 7 from BLOs at polling stations in Soraon and Karchhana areas, BJP representatives deliberately prevented us from completing our presentation."
Specific Allegations of Form 7 Irregularities
The Samajwadi Party provided detailed information about the recovered forms:
- Hundreds of duly completed Form 7 documents were discovered at booth numbers 37, 38, 39, and 40 in Soraon and Bhanemau
- Additional forms were recovered at booth numbers 114 and 115 in Karchhana
- When contact was attempted using mobile numbers listed on these forms, recipients consistently denied having filled out any such documents
Madhur emphasized the gravity of these findings, noting that Form 7 is specifically used for applications seeking deletion of names from electoral rolls. The discovery of multiple completed forms with questionable authenticity raised immediate red flags about potential voter list manipulation.
BJP Members Deny Involvement as Tensions Escalate
Complicating the situation further, a man from Karchhana who serves as a BJP Booth Level Agent at polling station 101/115, along with another individual, submitted written statements to the District Election Officer. These letters explicitly denied any involvement in the Form 7 matter.
"Despite these denials, the evidence we presented warranted serious investigation," Madhur stated. "When we characterized this as a serious electoral issue and demanded an impartial inquiry along with legal action against those responsible for what appears to be a conspiracy, BJP functionaries repeatedly interrupted our presentation."
Walkout Follows Heated Exchange
As the meeting descended into chaos with BJP members preventing SP representatives from fully articulating their concerns, the Samajwadi Party members made the decision to exit the proceedings. The walkout represented a significant breakdown in inter-party dialogue during a critical electoral preparation period.
The incident highlights growing tensions between political parties in Uttar Pradesh as election processes intensify. With the Special Summary Revision being a fundamental component of electoral integrity, allegations of Form 7 irregularities strike at the heart of democratic processes. The Samajwadi Party's boycott underscores their determination to bring these concerns to light, while the BJP's interruption suggests a contentious battle over electoral narratives in the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh.
