On the directives of the Election Commission and the Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab, special camps were organized on Sunday at all 2,927 polling booths across all Assembly constituencies in Ludhiana. Booth level officers (BLOs) conducted these camps to accelerate the progress of mapping remaining voters under the pre-SIR voter mapping initiative.
Inspections by Additional Deputy Commissioner
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) and Additional Electoral Officer, Poonam Singh, conducted inspections at polling booths in various Assembly constituencies to verify the presence of BLOs and review the voter mapping work being carried out by them.
Booths Visited
- Booths 2, 3, and 4 under Ludhiana Central at Kamla Lohtia Sanatan Dharam College, near Bajwa Nagar.
- Booths 52, 53, 54, 55, and 56 under Ludhiana West at Government Elementary School, College Road, Civil Lines.
- Booths 132, 133, 134, 135, and 136 under Ludhiana North constituency at Government High School, Kundanpuri.
All BLOs were found present at the booths during the inspections.
Directions to Enhance Voter Mapping
Poonam Singh directed BLOs to enhance voter mapping efforts and increase outreach. Additionally, instructions were issued to share the list of un-mapped voters with booth level agents (BLAs) and representatives of local political parties.
Involvement of Political Representatives
As per the instructions of the Election Commission, BLAs appointed by various political parties and local councillors were also present during the camps. The Additional District Electoral Officer asked the BLAs and councillors to assist the BLOs and help in mapping the un-mapped voters.
The initiative aims to ensure comprehensive voter mapping and improve electoral preparedness in the region.
