MK Stalin Launches Scathing Attack on PM Modi Over Alleged Misuse of Government Platforms
In a fiery election rally held in Krishnagiri on Sunday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin unleashed a full-throttle assault on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of exploiting government platforms for political gain. Stalin specifically pointed to Modi's recent televised 'address to the nation,' which was delivered with the national flag as a backdrop, labeling it a blatant violation of the model code of conduct.
Stalin Condemns Modi's Address as BJP Campaign Speech
"It was not a Prime Minister's address, it was a BJP leader's campaign speech," Stalin charged emphatically during the rally in Hosur, where he shared the stage with All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge. He asserted that such actions undermine the integrity of democratic processes and set a dangerous precedent for future elections.
Delimitation Bill Backlash and NDA's Decline
Stalin further criticized Modi's attempt to push the delimitation bill, claiming it had backfired spectacularly and ignited widespread anger across southern states. "He thought it would pass easily, but it boomeranged. The NDA's chapter has been closed on April 17," Stalin declared, adding that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) influence in parliament has been significantly "shaken." He framed the upcoming assembly election as a crucial battle to safeguard Tamil Nadu's rights and unique identity from external threats.
Warning Against BJP's Entry into Tamil Nadu
The Chief Minister issued a stark warning about the potential consequences of BJP gaining a foothold in Tamil Nadu. "BJP is a destructive force. If it enters TN, neither the state nor regional parties will survive. Sangh forces inside in TN means total destruction of the state's secular fabric," he stated. To counter this, Stalin urged voters to deliver more than 200 seats to the DMK-led alliance, emphasizing the need to protect the state from what he described as "Sangh infiltration."
Accusations of Betrayal in Hosur and Criticism of AIADMK
Stalin also accused the central government of betraying the aspirations of Hosur by "blocking" the establishment of an international airport, despite the region's rapid industrial growth. He argued that this move hinders economic development and reflects neglect towards Tamil Nadu's progress.
Turning his attention to the opposition, Stalin trained his guns on AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, labeling him as "unfit" to govern the state. Recalling a statement by Palaniswami that he learned about the 2018 Thoothukudi police firing deaths only through television, Stalin condemned this as a "disgrace" to Tamil Nadu, questioning his leadership and awareness of critical state issues.
Advocacy for the Dravidian Model
Concluding his speech, Stalin asserted that only the Dravidian Model could effectively protect Tamil Nadu from what he termed as BJP's "destructive politics" and AIADMK's "ineffective leadership." He called for unity among voters to uphold the state's autonomy and cultural heritage, positioning the DMK as the sole guardian of Tamil Nadu's future against perceived external and internal threats.
