Chennai: Former Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday labeled the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) a "scam" in the wake of reports concerning alleged question paper leaks, and called for the complete abolition of the NEET examination.
Stalin's Strong Statement on NEET
Stalin took to social media platform X to express his views, stating that NEET is fraught with irregularities. "NEET is not a scam-free examination. NEET itself is a scam," Stalin asserted. He further emphasized that "irregularities and malpractice became a recurring feature of the national entrance examination."
Impact on Students
Referring to the reported paper leak controversy and the subsequent cancellation of the exam, Stalin highlighted that lakhs of students have been subjected to immense mental stress and uncertainty. He alleged that the examination process is riddled with irregularities at every stage and accused the system of repeatedly playing with the future of students, the state's medical infrastructure, and public welfare.
DMK's Long-Standing Demand
Stalin reiterated the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (DMK) long-standing demand that MBBS admissions should be conducted on the basis of Class XII marks instead of NEET. He argued that this would ensure a fair and transparent process for students.
Appeal to New Government
Stalin also urged the newly formed government, led by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, to take a firm stand against NEET and to continue legal efforts seeking exemption for Tamil Nadu from the examination. He called for decisive action to protect the interests of students in the state.
