Suicide at Isha Yoga Centre: 29-year-old jumps off roof

A 29-year-old man died by suicide at the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore district on Sunday evening, police said.

Victim Identified

The deceased was identified as T Karthi, 29, a resident of Viluppuram district. He had been living in Coimbatore for about a year and worked as an excavator operator.

Incident Details

The Alandurai police were alerted after a man was found injured near the car parking exit of the Isha Yoga Centre. Upon arrival, officers discovered the man lying in a pool of blood with severe head injuries. The 108 ambulance service personnel who responded declared him dead after an examination.

Investigation Findings

Further inquiry revealed that Karthi was visiting the centre as a tourist. Police reviewed CCTV camera footage from the area, which showed him climbing onto the roof of a power room within the premises and subsequently jumping off.

Postmortem and Evidence

The postmortem examination, combined with the CCTV evidence, indicated that the man died after intentionally jumping from the elevated structure. His body was handed over to his relatives after the postmortem.

Ongoing Investigation

Alandurai police are conducting further investigations to determine the motive behind the suicide.
