Taxi driver dies as car falls on house roof in Uttarakhand

A 32-year-old taxi driver died after his car veered off the road and plunged onto the roof of a house in Deholi village near Ranikhet in the early hours of Wednesday. The deceased, Bhuvwan Prasad, a resident of Kafligair in Bageshwar, had arrived in the area on Tuesday evening to ferry a wedding party to Shivali village in the Chaubatia region of Tarikhet block.

Police said that around 3.15am, Prasad was driving along the Chaubatia road when he lost control of the vehicle at a sharp turn in Deholi. The car overturned and fell nearly 20 metres before landing on the roof of a house. The impact threw him out of the vehicle onto the roof surface.

Residents of the house initially suspected that a natural disaster had occurred because of the prevailing bad weather, but later found the car overturned on their roof. Local residents alerted emergency services, but Prasad had already succumbed to severe head injuries and heavy bleeding.
