A 14-year-old boy lost his left leg after attempting to alight from a slow-moving train near the CRPF bridge in Ajmer on Tuesday, police officials confirmed.
Incident Details
According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the victim, identified as Praygraj, had traveled to Jaipur with friends for a two-day trip. While returning, the train slowed down near the CRPF bridge. In an attempt to get off the moving train, he slipped and fell onto the railway tracks.
GRP personnel who were patrolling the area rushed to the spot and immediately transported the injured boy to JLN Hospital for emergency medical care.
Medical Response
Assistant Sub-Inspector Heeralal of the GRP stated that the severity of the injuries necessitated the amputation of the boy's left leg below the knee. He said, "He was trying to get down from the train when the train was slow and he slipped."
The hospital authorities confirmed that the boy is currently stable and receiving further treatment. The GRP has registered a case and is investigating the circumstances leading to the accident.
Safety Advisory
Railway authorities have reiterated the dangers of boarding or alighting from moving trains, even at reduced speeds. Passengers are advised to wait for the train to come to a complete halt at designated stations to avoid such tragic incidents.
