A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Parwalia, Bhopal, where a 17-year-old boy and his 15-year-old cousin sister lost their lives after the boy allegedly slipped in the mud near a pond and fell into deep water. The girl attempted to rescue him but also drowned.
Details of the Incident
The boy, identified as Yuvraj Meena, and his cousin, Malti, were near a pond when Yuvraj slipped and fell into the water. Malti jumped in to save him, but both struggled and began to drown. Children grazing goats nearby raised an alarm, prompting family members to pull them out. However, Yuvraj had already died by then. Malti was still breathing but succumbed on the way to the hospital.
Police and Family Response
Parwalia police registered a case and, after a post-mortem, handed over the bodies to the family in Daulatpura Thikriya village. The village is in mourning over the loss of the two young lives.
This incident highlights the dangers of unsupervised water bodies and the importance of swimming safety. Local authorities have urged residents to be cautious near ponds and to ensure children are not left unattended near water.
