Telangana Chief Minister Advocates for Green Steel Plant in Bayyaram During Delhi Meeting

In a significant push for industrial advancement, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy held a crucial meeting with Union Steel and Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy and Minister of State for Steel Bhupathi Srinivas Varma in New Delhi on Saturday. The discussions centered on establishing a green steel plant in Bayyaram, located within Mahabubabad district, to address both steel shortages and environmental sustainability.

Strategic Industrial Vision Under Telangana Rising 2047

During the meeting, CM Revanth Reddy elaborated on the state's ambitious Telangana Rising - 2047 vision document, which outlines a comprehensive industrial revolution. He emphasized the plant's role in leveraging hydrogen technology to create a green steel cluster, aligning with global environmental standards and reducing carbon emissions.

Comprehensive Requests for Industrial and Technological Hub Development

The Chief Minister presented a multi-faceted proposal to the Union ministers, including:

  • Developing Hyderabad as a central hub for achieving national industrial production targets, capitalizing on existing technology, heavy industries, and favorable production conditions.
  • Setting up an electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing hub in Hyderabad, driven by a massive surge in EV sales and robust growth in the automotive sector.
  • Creating manufacturing industries catering to the automotive and defence sectors, enhancing self-reliance and economic diversification.
  • Establishing a dedicated park for manufacturing modern equipment such as machine tools and robotics, fostering innovation and high-tech production.

Environmental and Skill Development Initiatives

Revanth Reddy also highlighted the state government's efforts to transform Hyderabad into a pollution-free city by 2034, seeking the Centre's cooperation in transitioning vehicles to electric power. Additionally, he requested the establishment of a national-level institution in Hyderabad to impart specialized skills required by modern technologies, ensuring a skilled workforce for future industrial needs.

The Union ministers acknowledged the proposals, with further discussions expected to shape Telangana's industrial landscape in the coming years.
