A tragic incident occurred in Thrissur on Friday morning when a massive tree uprooted and collapsed onto a motorcycle rider during heavy rainfall at Sree Narayanapuram near Kodungallur. The deceased has been identified as Manikandan (60), a resident of Karumathra Blahayil Illam. He served as the priest at Thamarakulam Thottappulli temple, located near the accident site.
Details of the Incident
The mishap took place while Manikandan was returning home after performing the morning pooja at the temple. The heavy downpour had loosened the soil around the tree, causing it to uproot suddenly and fall directly onto the scooter he was riding. The impact was so severe that the scooter was completely destroyed.
Police Investigation
Local police reached the spot after being alerted by residents and recovered the body. They have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident. The body has been sent for postmortem examination.
