A tempo driver succumbed to injuries sustained when a speeding Eeco van struck him in the Expressway police station area on Thursday, police said. The deceased was identified as Shiv Kumar.
Accident Details
According to a complaint filed by his brother Ramkumar Tiwari, Shiv was returning to Delhi after delivering goods near Pari Chowk when the accident occurred. At around 9:30 pm, as he reached Advant on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, the van rammed into his vehicle. The collision's severity left Shiv critically injured, and his tempo was badly damaged.
Response and Aftermath
Passers-by rushed to assist and took the injured driver to a nearby hospital. However, Shiv succumbed to his injuries. An FIR has been lodged against the unidentified van driver under sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving on a public way) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, an officer stated. Efforts are ongoing to identify and trace the driver, he added.
