NEW DELHI: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming the longest serving elected Prime Minister of India. In a Truth Social post, Trump said that PM Modi is a "strong, healthy and wise man" and will have many years of "greatness and success" ahead of him.

"Congratulations to my friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on becoming India’s longest-serving Prime Minister – And a Great One he is!" Trump wrote. "He is a strong, healthy, and wise man, and will have many years of Greatness and Success ahead of him!" he added.

Prime Minister Modi surpassed the record of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who served for 16 years and 286 days. Modi, who took office in May 2014, has now completed over 17 years as Prime Minister, marking a historic milestone in Indian politics.
