President Donald Trump is reportedly growing increasingly frustrated with those around him following a series of political setbacks and internal disputes, according to a report cited by Politico. The 79-year-old president is said to be 'frustrated with everyone, from his own team to the Senate,' a senior MAGA figure close to the White House told Politico.
Recent Defeats and Pushback
The anger stems from recent defeats and pushback from Republicans on key issues. These include opposition to a proposed $1.8 billion 'anti-Weaponization' fund, resistance to a $1 billion security allocation linked to Trump's planned White House ballroom project, and GOP leaders refusing to remove the nonpartisan Senate parliamentarian despite his demands.
'He's p---ed, and people are not recognizing the level of p---ed that he is,' the MAGA source told Politico. 'He does not like being put in a box. When you put him in a box, then Trump's going to blow the box up.'
White House Frustrations
The setbacks have added to frustrations inside the White House. The Department of Justice has blocked the $1.8 billion compensation fund, while Senate Republicans removed the additional $1 billion security provision from a broader $70 billion immigration and border enforcement bill.
Tensions also rose last month after Trump criticized Senate Majority Leader John Thune and called for Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough to be removed, following a ruling that the ballroom security funding could not be included in the immigration package.
Controversial Appointments
Despite resistance, Trump is continuing to push for more controversial appointments, including loyalist Bill Pulte as director of national intelligence, a role requiring extensive national security experience. The White House has defended the nomination. 'Bill Pulte is a great selection, and he will do a phenomenal job,' spokesperson Davis Ingle told Politico, describing the president's team as 'world class.'
Tightening Inner Circle
The report also describes a tightening inner circle around Trump, who is said to be relying on a small group of loyal advisers including Pulte, personal counsel Boris Epshteyn, and aide Natalie Harp. Harp has been nicknamed 'Human Printer' for carrying a portable printer used to produce favorable online posts for the president.
'Knives are out in some capacity,' a White House ally added. 'I mean, people are stabbing people. Like, it's chaos. The chaos is like creeping back.'
Iowa Endorsement Loss
Trump also reacted after his endorsed candidate in the Iowa gubernatorial primary, Randy Feenstra, lost the race. According to a White House ally, 'He's really angry about this Iowa endorsement—like really, really angry,' adding that Trump blamed advisers for pushing him towards the decision.
